Yes :- What is a system ; Feeding, Surroundings and
Conditions.
As for feeding, pigeons have to go with your
routine.
You have for example pigeons that can't loose weight
themselves, these can feed with a half full tray. And others that will get
fatter, this dosn't mean that they are not good pigeons, they just dont fit into
this system.
We ourselves don not feed with full trays as Janssen pigoens
have the tendency to get fat and heavy pigeons dont fly well. That is why the
young birds from 3-4 weeks can eat as much as they like, from our special
feeding / breeding formula. Slowly they go over to an inriched eggwhite mixture,
this is much better for there muscles. Through the feed we add also 25% barley."
This is for us a golden combination", here is the feed absolute but
lighter.
By the drop off, pigeons are trained to drink in there
baskets, so they can have a great stress free flight.
Further is the stimulation of young birds very important. We
still do it the old fashioned
way, keep the pigeons together. After two flights we lay
boxes and bowls in the coupe, so the birds can pair up and huddle together. They
can lay eggs and have young, this works very well. Halfway through the floor is
sowed with split peas, each week a bit more is added. So throught natures
nesting instincts, you can draw out the best from each pigeon. Each week we have
a different stage, also niether a good or bad pigeon exsists, they are all
individual. So when a pigeon is nesting it is naturally stronger and we are able
to take advantage of this. Both female & male pigeons benifit from this
system.
The plus side from this is then that the widows play from the
last year as a newling.
All this is done with lots of care, time and
patience
